ICC Deputy Prosecutor will travel to Guinea

Fatou Bensouda, the Deputy Prosecutor is in Guinea on the 19th of January. The invitation was extended by the Guinean authorities according to a statement by special advisor to the prosecutor Beatrice Le Fraper. She said that the objective is to determine if the crimes committed on September 28 were crimes against humanity and that the Guinean authorities have invited them to go to Guinea. The Guinean government had indicated they are keen to take action against anyone who might have committed such crimes.
The ICC had launched a preliminary investigation of the violence to determine whether the alleged crimes fell within the court’s jurisdiction in October. The Junta’s leader’s medical condition is still not known but sources in Morocco where Dadis Camara is recovering from a gunshot wound inflicted by a former aide, say he still needs time to recover as the fatal shot had rendered him incapacitated.
